The show which ran from 7-11 April was “Seamless” for both Metconnect Ltd and our sister welding machine manufacturer, Merkle uk Ltd.

It was with great pride that both companies were able to share the stand of Bloodhound SSC, the 1000 mph plus “Super Car” which is currently being built by a technically brilliant team of engineers in Bristol.

The choice of Merkle UK and Metconnect, as Bloodhound’s sole official sponsors for welding machinery and supplies, is a testament to the faith and trust placed in us to provide the highest standard of equipment and technical knowhow to the team and to the project as a whole.

Merkle UK’s Technical Director, Mr Steve Yates, was on hand to assist the Bloodhound team on the stand and to explain to the hundreds of visitors the essential role the two companies are playing in what is arguably one of the most difficult and prestigious engineering projects in the world.

He has given his own account of supporting the welding side things on what will be the fastest super car on the planet.

“The show was undoubtedly a success for us and for all concerned with Bloodhound SSC.

The stand was by far the busiest with hundreds passing through to catch a glimpse of the British record attempting supersonic car. The visitors I met ranged from school kids, to University graduates and welding and fabrication engineers, studying or just interested all aspects of the welding fabrication that is being carried out using Merkle welding machinery and Metconnect consumables and supplies.

I took the opportunity to showcase Merkle and Metconnect's ability to also support technically the welding part of this unique and very special car”
